Video game developer Insomniac Games at publisher Microsoft announce that the upcoming Sunset Overdrive title will have a Season Pass which will allow gamers to get access to three big downloadable content packs for the shooter, as well as to use a range of new outfits, amps and traps.

The official announcement, quoted by AllGamesBeta, states that "Two campaign Game Add-ons that each deliver new locations to explore, stories to experience, and bosses to battle. Each of these Add-ons also includes new weapons, new Amps, a new Trap, new character outfits as well as new challenges and Chaos Squad objectives."

Separately, gamers will also be able to use the Weapons Pack, which introduces four new weapons that the development team describes as deadly, although their exact nature has not yet been revealed.

The six extra character outfits for Sunset Overdrive and the two amps and traps will be offered as soon as the shooter is launched on the Xbox One.

Microsoft says that buying the new Season Pass means that fans will get more than 20 percent off when compared to getting all the new content via separate purchases.

More details about the DLC that will arrive for Sunset Overdrive will be offered closer to the moment when they are delivered to gamers.

It's unclear exactly when gamers will be able to download the extra content for the shooter and whether the development team plans to also introduce new modes via free updates.

A big movement-focused exclusive

Sunset Overdrive is a big project for Insomniac Games, which has broken away from the PlayStation platforms it has long been associated with in order to create an innovative take on the third-person shooter genre.

The game is focused on fast and stylish movement, which allows gamers to navigate a bright and fun apocalyptic environment.

A range of enemies can be taken out with weapons that are designed to surprise both with their capabilities and their damage dealing potential, and Insomniac Games is aiming to introduce both competitive and cooperative modes.

The entire experience started life as a more conservative take on the genre, but the studio has decided to be more adventurous with its approach after developing the idea of fast movement across telephone wires.

Sunset Overdrive will be launched only on the Xbox One on October 28 of this year in North America and three days later in Europe.
