Insomniac Games has gone a bit more in-depth about its upcoming Sunset Overdrive open world third-person shooter, promising fans that they'll get to not only wield all sorts of great weapons but also experience a good story.

Sunset Overdrive is set to debut later this year exclusively for the Xbox One platform, and Insomniac Games has already showcased the game in different videos, not to mention plenty of screenshots and quite a lot of info about gameplay.

Insomniac launched plenty of games over the years and many of them featured elements that can be admired in Sunset Overdrive, such as wacky weapons or open worlds.

According to Insomniac CEO Ted Price, the game will respect these core elements, starting with the wacky guns that can be used by players in all sorts of ways to wreak havoc in the open environment.

"This game is full of unconventional weapons," Price revealed to GRTV. "Weapons you simply won't find anywhere else and that's part of our heritage at Insomniac. We like making things that again you won't find in other games."

"One of my favorites is the TNTeddy. It's this teddy bear launcher and it fires this teddy bear who's got dynamite strapped to his belly. And he goes out and he kind of bounces around and he squeals and he blows up!"

Besides the actual weapons, Price is confident that the story will also impress fans, as it's fairly detailed and will offer plenty of reasons for players to keep engaging in the missions, instead of just running around aimlessly through the open city.

"This is a story-driven game. So it's an open world where you are following a fairly detailed story and as you are exploring this giant city you are picking up... more and more story elements, also earning weapons, you're crafting what we amps in the game. And these amps confer new abilities to the weapons that you've been buying or earning and they can also be attached to the hero."

In case you forgot, Sunset Overdrive takes place in Sunset City, a location that's been overrun by energy drink-fueled monsters that cause chaos for the citizens that have yet to be tainted by the foul liquid.

Players will have to defeat them while juggling around the various factions that have spawned amongst survivors.

Sunset Overdrive is set to debut on October 28 exclusively for the Xbox One.
