The game is coming out on October 28, exclusively for the Xbox One

The upcoming Xbox One exclusive game from Insomniac Games, Sunset Overdrive, is bound to shake the foundations of the entrenched third-person shooter genre at least a little, with its blend of acrobatics and over-the-top, color-splattered action.

The game's premise is that the world is coming to an end in the wake of a massive party where everyone binged on a brand-new energy drink, Overcharge Delirium XT, that turned them all into zombies, and it's up to you to jump around and kill them all in style.

A new gameplay video has emerged on the Internet, courtesy of VG247, showing some unaltered footage of an everyday Joe trying out the upcoming madness, exploring the zip-lining and grinding mechanics, and showing a boss fight against Harker, a massive mutant that is able to keep up with your acrobatics.

The video shows that traversal movement is done more through jumping, double-jumping and grinding on rails and the edges of the buildings, rather than the climbing mechanics featured in Assassin's Creed, in order to maintain the fast pace of the action.

Although the individual playing questions the long-term appeal of the Sunset Overdrive, you've got to love a game where all the explosions spell out BOOM! and there are Portal references. In any case, we'll be able to make up our own mind when the Xbox One exclusive title comes out later this year, on October 28.
