An even bigger amount of details about Sunset Overdrive's special Chaos Squad cooperative multiplayer mode has appeared, this time focusing on the choices players can make in the online experience and how they'll impact the final Night Defense encounter that includes all sorts of big rewards.

Sunset Overdrive is set to debut exclusively for the Xbox One platform this fall and both developer Insomniac Games and publisher Microsoft want to hype up the open world third-person shooter experience in many ways.

We've already seen gameplay videos from the single-player story campaign and, in recent weeks, the Chaos Squad cooperative multiplayer has been occupying the spotlight.

After checking out a gameplay video demonstration yesterday, Microsoft has posted even more details on the Xbox Wire about the many features of the cooperative mode.

First up, players can jump straight from the single-player campaign into the multiplayer one by just going to photo booths that are scattered throughout the open world. They'll be transported with the same gear and weapons into the online experience alongside their friends.

Afterwards, they can vote on missions in the open world, which have different objectives and are scattered throughout the city. What's more, each mission offers Chaos and Team Boost points, which impact the difficulty and your team's chances to succeed.

"The amount of Chaos is what determines the difficulty of your team’s final Night Defense. The higher your Chaos– the tougher your Night Defense is going to be, but you’ll get more chances to receive cool rewards at the end. The amount of Chaos you have will depend on which missions you voted for leading up to Night Defense."

After a few rounds of the chosen mission, the Chaos Squad experience culminates with the Night Defense encounter, in which the eight players must work together to protect vats of the Overcharge energy drink.

"This is where you will fend off enemies and protect your vats of Overcharge at one of many forts across the city by not only using your weapons, traversal, and amps – but by placing traps, as well. Before each wave – you’ll have a bit of time to place your traps, but if you made a horrible calculation, you can move and place them during the waves, as well."

At the end of the Night Defense experience, all the potential rewards, such as fresh weapons or customization options, can be taken into the single-player campaign.

Sunset Overdrive launches this fall for the Xbox One, and you can expect to hear much more about it until then.
