With fans eagerly waiting for “New Moon,” the second film in the newly-renamed “The Twilight Saga,” to drop in a theater near them on November 20, good news is just around the corner. Summit has just announced the release date for the third installment in the franchise: June 30, 2010, DeadlineHollywoodDaily is reporting.

Not only that, but Summit has also released the plotline that “Eclipse” will stick to. As for the more technical details, the same source informs that, right at this moment, no director is yet attached to the project, as neither is the general direction it is going to take all that well pin-pointed. Nevertheless, it has been said, no information is worse than just a release date and a brief summary, since now fans have at least something to cling to until more details are made available.

“As Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob – knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella has one more decision to make: life or death.” a press release accompanying the announcement reportedly reads.

As of now, it is believed the cast of “Twilight” and “New Moon” will come together again for “Eclipse.” Reportedly, talks with the main stars have already taken place, with most of them being on board the new production, even if no contracts have yet been signed, industry insiders are pointing out.

“Regarding ‘The Twilight Saga,’ my sources tell me that director Catherine Hardwick’s claim in her diary that she didn’t want to helm ‘New Moon’ isn’t accurate because Summit decided not to hire her for ‘New Moon.’ And I’ve also learned that Summit only had a deal with Stephenie Meyer for the first book, ‘Twilight.’ So the start-up film studio had to make individual deals for the other books in Meyer’s series, including the new 4th novel ‘Breaking Dawn’ – and the author got top-dollar.” the aforementioned publication also mentions in relation to the genuine “Twilight” frenzy that is sweeping over the world.

Until further details regarding “Eclipse” are made available, fans should know that “New Moon” will be released on November 20. As of now, singer Madonna is reportedly in talks with Summit to become involved in the project presumably in a double capacity – singer and actress.
