World, meet Jacob Black

As we reported over the weekend, the second official trailer for “New Moon” is completed and ready to reach fans. It premiered with “Bandslam” in movie theaters and made its way on the Internet a few hours afterwards in cam version (which probably means of the most questionable quality there is). Now, fans will be happy to hear that Summit Entertainment has just released the trailer in high quality.

If the first preview to “New Moon,” the one that was released back in May, tried to combine and include most of the elements in the book – the attack on Bella that prompts Edward to leave, Jacob’s transformation, Bella’s visions when she is in peril and so on and so forth – the second one is all about Bella’s new friend. Centering entirely on Jacob Black, the trailer also includes a few quick glances at what happens in Italy with the Volturi, but fans who have not read the book yet actually stand pretty high chances of missing that part the first time they see the trailer.

The second trailer also brings a new treat for fans in that it is narrated by Taylor Lautner, the actor playing Jacob Black. He tries to explain why “New Moon” will be different in tone and atmosphere from “Twilight,” meaning, why it will be more intense and, implicitly, better. “Jacob has changed in a lot of different ways. He’s bigger, he’s 30 pounds bigger! ‘New Moon’ is a lot more complicated than ‘Twilight’ was. As time goes on, the heat starts building. ‘New Moon’ is going to be stepped up a whole other notch. There’s going to be a lot more action, especially with the werewolves involved. I think the fans are really going to be happy.” Taylor Lautner says into the camera.

As fans must already know, the main plot will deal with Bella, who has been left behind in Forks, Washington by Edward and the entire Cullen clan – for her safety – and who can’t seem to wake up from this terrible nightmare. She spends most of “New Moon” in a trance-like state, where not only is she oblivious to what happens around her, but also completely indifferent and cold to anything else but the pain ripping her apart. The only moments of respite are when she’s in the company of her childhood friend, Jacob Black, who becomes her “sun” and shows her that she can smile again, even if the pain never truly goes away. Jacob, as it happens, also has a secret of his own and it’s accepting it that eventually makes the two grow apart from each other.

Without further ado, watch the trailer below in high quality. “New Moon” arrives in US theaters on November 20.
