Genso Suikoden I&II is a re-release of the PlayStation role-playing games Suikoden and Suikoden II, ported to the PlayStation Portable. Konami announced the game in the 4th quarter of 2005 and the compilation was released on February 23, 2006. In the game, the player is now able to move their character diagonally. The rate of experience gain for characters
accompanied by powerful characters has been reduced. Certain character portraits have been changed and the Suikoden 1 opening movie is now the one from the Sega Saturn version.
Graphics (as well as the movies) have been slightly enhanced and redone to fit widescreen and the Matilda "Glitch" has been removed from Suikoden II. While it was originally heard that this port would not be released elsewhere, the art director of the Suikoden series stated in his blog something about a possible overseas release.
However, this has subsequently been dismissed as a mistranslation and the blog has since disappeared. The low sales of the game make an overseas release unlikely, but not impossible, considering the smaller printing of Suikoden and Suikoden II in North America.
Glitches
Work around for experience point bug in Suikoden I There is a bug in Suikoden I: Characters in each row (front and back) receive (at most) the experience received by the left-most character in that row. This will cause lower level characters to receive very little experience if placed to the right of higher leveled characters.
To work around this bug place your lowest level characters to the left of higher level characters in each row. Each row is handled independently so you can order them Low to High in the front row and then Low to High in the back row without either row interfering with the other.
Here's one of the Suikoden 2 endings. I'm not going to spoil the surprise, so here it is:
