New theories are coming to light in the muddy case of Suge Knight getting shot in a club, while attending a pre-VMA party hosted by Chris Brown on Sunday morning. After it's been speculated that the shooting was gang related and that Chris Brown was the actual target, it's now being claimed that Knight was shot to prevent him from publishing a tell-all book.

Page Six says that music industry insiders are claiming that Knight has been shopping a story about his career to publishers, that extends from the founding of Death Row Records back in the early '90s to the present day, mentioning such career highlights as the alleged holding of Vanilla Ice over a balcony to get him to sign the song “Ice Ice Baby” over to him.

It is also said to shed some light into the infamous case of Tupac's shooting, since it's known that Suge Knight was driving the car in which the rapper got shot by a yet unidentified assailant. The book was supposed to come out in 2002, since Suge made a deal with Penguin's Riverhead Books, but it never got released.

The autobiography is claimed to be explosive because it names names and reveals many shady deals along the years, and it's also believed that it could pull the rap impresario out of his financial crisis. Knight filed for bankruptcy back in 2006, after losing a big lawsuit to a woman who claimed that she helped him found Death Row Records.

Not only is Knight shopping his autobiography around, but insiders claim that he's planning a movie and a pilot for a reality series. “Suge doing a tell-all book would be a huge best seller, and probably one of the few things he could do,” points out one source.

This would explain why Knight was shot without warning or provocation, according to police reports, and why he's been reluctant to talk to the police after the incident, refusing to cooperate in solving the case and apprehending the shooter.

Rumors are now emerging to say that the shooting of Suge Knight was “a planned assault” that was originally supposed to take place at Chris Brown's barbecue on Saturday afternoon, but the plans fell through and it was decided to take place later, when he was at the club.

Sources close to the events insist that Brown was never the target, despite the fact that he's also got known ties with the famous LA gang, Bloods, as does Knight for that matter. “Before the shooting, Chris stood on a table. He was head-and-shoulders above the crowd. If the shooter wanted to hit Chris, there’s no way he would have missed,” pointed out one insider.
