Subtlepatterns.com, the domain of Subtle Patterns – a company founded in 2011 that offers high quality subtle patterns for web projects – has been hijacked.
“Media Temple is working on the issue right now, but it will take some time to resolve ,” the site’s owner
wrote on Facebook around 4 hours ago.
Apparently, the individual (or group of individuals) who hijacked the domain went via
instra.com.
We don’t have the details of how the attackers managed to take over the domain. Some customers
suggested that the domain name might have expired, but according to the owner, that theory wasn’t valid because it was set to expire only next year.
Fortunately, those who want to download patterns are not affected that much because an alternative domain has been made available. Until the issue is sorted out, those who want to visit the site can access
subtlepatterns.com.s151819.gridserver.com.
