Developer Unknown Worlds has released a couple of new screenshots from their upcoming underwater adventure game Subnautica.

The developer announced the game back in December 2013, stating that it will be an open-world adventure game taking place under the sea, and it was shown for the first time at PAX East, the annual convention taking place now in Boston.

Additionally, the Subnautica website has been updated with some pre-alpha in-game screenshots, alongside some sweet pieces of concept art.

The game has only been in development for a few months, so the developers point out to the fact that the end result may be considerably different from what they have just revealed.

In Subnautica, players will be able to swim around coral reefs in shallow waters, as well as to venture in deeper areas where they’ll come face to face with things that are big enough to eat you whole.

Users will do so with the help of an underwater personal vehicle called the Sea Glide, which will also allow them to evade becoming the hungry denizens of the deep’s next meal.

Players will also be able to make use of a submarine, called The Cyclops, which will include an extensive and detailed interior. They will be able to board the vehicle and pilot it around the underwater world faster and safer than with the Sea Glide.
