Researchers from Websense have analyzed phishing attacks to determine which are the countries that host the most phishing sites, and which are the most common subject lines used in such cybercriminal operations.

The top 10 countries responsible for hosting phishing URLs are China, the US, Germany, the UK, Canada, Russia, France, Hong Kong, the Netherlands and Brazil.

It’s worth noting that China and Hong Kong have never been included in Websense’s list until now. Egypt and Bahamas are no longer in the top 10, and the US is no longer on the number one position.

As far as subject lines are concerned, LinkedIn-themed spam emails appear to be cybercriminals’ favorite. The list of the 5 most dangerous subject lines is as follows:

1. Invitation to connect on LinkedIn 2. Mail delivery failed: returning message to sender 3. Dear Customer 4. Comunicazione importante (“Important announcement” in Italian) 5. Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender
