14 DAY TRIAL // Subaru of America has announced new iPad applications based on its 2011 model digital brochures, in response to the popularity of browsing on the go.
The free applications allow consumers to explore the 2011 Subaru Outback, Subaru Forester, and Subaru WRX/STI with 360-degree views, videos and interactive demonstrations, according to the developers.
Subaru foresaw an opportunity to increase population awareness after learning that Apple sold no less than 4.69 million iPads in the second quarter of fiscal year 2011.
41 percent of U.S. adults noted shopping as a reason for interest in purchasing the iPad, Subaru of America also learned.
As such, the new apps should do well to enhance the auto research experience by offering trim simulators along with engineering and Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive feature demonstrations, the car company believes.
Commenting on the move to release brochure apps on the iPad, Alan Bethke, director, Marketing Communications, Subaru of America, Inc., said, "Car shoppers are researching everything from financing to auto insurance on their mobile devices.”
“Making these apps available gives car shoppers a convenient and interactive way to explore Subaru vehicles and technology, and it also aligns with our environmental efforts,” added Bethke.
Subaru not only launched these apps to make its cars more visible to the potential customer, but also to cement its environmentally friendly practices by reducing paper usage, energy consumption, inks and production waste.
Subaru also has zero-landfill manufacturing plants.
“Beyond the environmental benefits, the iPad apps offer consumers additional choices of how to get information and give them new ways to compare models, experience the Subaru brand and share the experience,” Subaru officials said.
Compatible with both the original iPad and the newer iPad 2, the Subaru dynamic brochures can be downloaded for free via the links below. iPhone and iPod touch devices are not supported.
