Social news aggregator Digg has been trying to regain some of its lost popularity by making some big changes to its site. Whether those changes will turn the tide for the company remains to be seen but in the meantime a new service called Sub.DiggerPlus aims to greatly improve the user experience for Digg users.

Sub.DiggerPlus brings a much better alternative to some of the social networking features the site is offering, making engaging with your friends much more enjoyable. There is a problem though, as many may be afraid to use the new service since Digg has previously banned accounts for using scripts that made it easier for users to digg their friends’ links. Recently though the company is becoming more open with third-party developers and has made some changes in the site itself that would make it hard for it to justify banning users of Sub.DiggerPlus. This hasn't convinced everyone though and some are still reluctant to use such a service.

Actually, using Sub.DiggerPlus is pretty straightforward and all that it requires is to enter a username on its homepage. You don't have to log in to your Digg account to use it so you could enter any Digg username. The site then displays a sideshow of the latest submissions from the friends of the entered user. This method makes it much easier to browse through your friends' submissions as Sub.DiggerPlus shows the content from their links directly. Digg's own site on the other hand shows you the Digg page for your friends’ submissions and only then can you go to the original links.

There is no response from Digg regarding the new service but banning users wouldn't be the smartest move, especially now that the team is making some big changes to the site, like the recent removal of the Shout feature.
