“The Expendables 2” has come to a temporary halt, as an on-set accident has killed one stuntman and injured another. No word yet whether any of the huge stars working on the sequel were present at the time of the explosion. As we also
informed you some time ago, “Expendables” is now shooting in Bulgaria. Last we heard, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis were all on set, working.
The Hollywood Reporter says the accident took place the other day but, as of now, no one knows whether any of the actors were also involved.
All that is known is that one stuntman was killed and another was rushed to the hospital for the injuries sustained in the explosion.
“The accident took place during shooting at the Ognyanovo reservoir near the town of Elin Pelin, near the Bulgarian capital of Sofia, the [local] report said,” THR writes.
“Bulgarian television confirmed the casualties but did not identify them, saying only the stuntman killed was 'a foreigner,' although a separate report by the Sofia Echo newspaper said that both men were 'of Chinese origin',” the e-zine further says.
“There was no word if any of the film's stars were involved in or present at the accident,” says the same publication.
This isn't the only mishap to put a damper on the “Expendables” frenzy: also recently, word got out in the press that Stallone was being dragged to court over claims he had stolen entire fragments from another man's script for the first film, which came out last year.
Marcus Webb filed court documents saying Stallone somehow gained access to his own script, “The Cordoba Caper,” and took from there the idea for “The Expendables,” including large chunks of the story.
He didn't say how Sly (who is credited as both writer and director on the film) got his hands on the so-called original script, but he provided several instances that were too similar to be a coincidence, as we
also noted yesterday.
