She may have upset her fans and people in the industry with a recent series of comments, but there’s no denying how gorgeous Jessica Alba can be. In the latest issue of Harper’s Bazaar Australia, the actress tries to downplay her good looks.

The focus in her life has changed in recent years, she says, because she’s no longer striving to be perfect for other people but instead be the best mother and wife she can be.

Family is what matters the most, she says. The mag also includes a photospread with the actress looking positively breathtaking decked in couture by the pool.

Becoming a mother has put everything into perspective for the star, she reveals in the accompanying interview. Something about motherhood makes everything in your life so far shift.

“I’ve learned to forgive myself for not being perfect and not stressing myself. I have had a reputation for being fiercely protective of my independence. My daughter has put everything in perspective for me,” Alba says for Harper’s.

The moment she became a mother, she learned that she was not what mattered the most: her daughter is.

“You stop being selfish and driven in such a narrow personal sense, and you want to build a life for yourself and your family. I tended to be a workaholic in the past and now I don’t feel that kind of self-imposed stress anymore,” Jessica explains.

Once a “workaholic,” Alba now lives quietly with and, most importantly, for her family. Whatever projects she takes up are projects she deigns worthy of time apart from her husband and daughter.

“My husband and my daughter are my world. Together we want to build a truly loving and beautiful family. I’m very traditional in that sense. When Honor was born, I also felt that it was a good time to change many things,” she says.

“I was always the type of woman who tried to please other people and do everything right. Putting that kind of pressure on yourself isn’t healthy for you in the long run. It wears you down,” explains the actress.
