According to a new insider threat study done by Vormetric, 54% of IT decision makers say it’s more difficult to detect and prevent insider attacks today than it was back in 2011. Furthermore, 46% of respondents admitted being vulnerable to such threats.

The main concern for 63% of IT decision makers is that employees with privileged rights might abuse their status. 35% are concerned about cloud security, 36% about network expansion, while 27% are afraid of APTs that might compromise credentials.

On the other hand, over half of organizations have started taking action against insider threats by increasing their security budget.

The recent Edward Snowden events have led to organizations being more aware regarding the risks posed by insiders. In fact, 45% of companies have reported changing their views on insider threats since the story broke.
