Suffering from an allergy offers some protection against this cancer

Researchers supported by the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) have recently determined that people who produce a large amount of antibodies as a result of allergies tend to develop brain tumors less often than their peers who are otherwise health.

The new investigation was conducted in order to confirm and refine previous results, bu even so several questions endure. However, the fact remains that scientists at the Brown University may have just found a new way to address at least certain types of brain cancer.

“These results suggest that there is something different about the immune response to tumor cells in people with allergies,” Brown Public Health Program associate professor of epidemiology and corresponding study author Dominique Michaud explains.

“In terms of fighting the cancer or preventing it from growing, people who have allergies might be protected. They might be able to better to fight the cancer,” the investigator adds.
