With a production start date set for November, anticipation is starting to build around the 23rd James Bond movie, starring Daniel Craig as the swift and deadly 007 agent. Producers from Eon Productions are now busy denying reports that the film will be called “Carte Blanche.”

A couple of days ago, word got out in one of the Serbian newspapers that the film would be called “Carte Blanche,” just like the novel from Jeffrey Deaver.

This not only offered an indication as to what the film would be titled, but also into its plot, since speculation immediately started to make the rounds that it would follow the plotline from the book.

It was all just a huge misunderstanding, The National reports, citing a statement from Eon Productions in London, which is behind the upcoming Bond film.

“The new film is not going to be called Carte Blanche and will have nothing to do with the Jeffery Deaver book,” the makers say in a statement to the press.

However, by this time, the damage may have already been done, The National points out, since rumors spread like wildfire on the Internet.

It all started when a Serbian newspaper, Blic, claimed that cello player Jelena Mihailovic had been approached with an offer to pen the score or at least the title track for the film.

Admittedly, producers had seen Mihailovic perform at the Cannes Film Festival and they thought she’d be great for the score of the film.

“The producers and director of the next Bond film were in the audience, staggered by what they heard and offered Jelena a chance to write the opening score for the new Bond film, entitled Carte Blanche,” the initial report said.

This was picked up by several English-speaking publications and, from there on, it spread through the blogosphere on most movie-oriented e-zines.

As it turns out, it was probably not accurate.

Details on the upcoming Bond film are being kept well under wraps: fans know only that Craig and Dame Judie Dench are reprising their roles, and that Sam Mendes is directing. The release date is set for 2012.
