Students in India are working on an anti-rape project in the form of a bra that can help protect from attackers.

According to RT, the bra will force any assailant to back off by means of electrocuting them. They would be subjected to 3.8 KV and a signal would alert police about a rape going on.

The zapping function is activated when pressure is applied on a specific portion of the bra and a GPS system is used to let authorities know where the victim is. The girl’s parents would also be alerted via a pre-recorded SMS message.

Technically, this is a great idea that is meant to empower women, but there are a lot of things that wouldn't offer someone wearing it a lot of peace of mind.

For one, how will you know that readjusting your bra won't send police to your doorstep or electrocute you? Leave your thoughts on the product in the comments box.

[Update, April 4, 2013]: This news blog has been modified to relay that the product can project a 3.8 KV shock, instead of 3,800 KV one, as noted by our viewers.3.8KV
