An 8-year-old boy suspended over biting a Pop Tart to resemble a gun has received a membership card from the National Rifle Organization.

A photo of the “rifle” that got Josh Welch kicked out of Park Elementary School in Baltimore for two days on March 1 has been posted above.

According to the Baltimore Sun, the student was awarded the membership by House Minority Leader Nicholaus R. Kipke.

His parents are not currently members of the organization. They have contracted legal help to get the suspension off Josh's record.

I don't know what's crazier about this story – the fact that he would be sent home over gun-shaped pastry, or the NRA's commitment to teaching gun use to children. Leave your opinion in the comments section.
