At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Microsoft applauded what it referred to as strong momentum for its family of Windows Live Mobile services. The Redmond company announced a variety of new partnerships and agreements at the event, all focused on Windows Live, with such companies as América Móvil, Telefonica, Personal, Gemalto and Movistar. Following this year's mobile-event in Barcelona, Microsoft has opened a potential 300 million phones to Windows Live Mobile Services, MSN Mobile, and Live Search.

“People all over the world are looking to mobile services to improve the way they find and share information, stay in touch with the people they care about, and have fun on their phones. The services they are looking for on the phone are frequently the same ones they use and are familiar with on the Web and PC, such as Windows Live Hotmail, Windows Live Messenger, Windows Live Spaces, Windows Live Photo Gallery, MSN, Search and more,” Bart Wojciehowski, general manager for Mobile Services within Microsoft’s Mobile Communications Business, explained.

Of course that, while going forward, Microsoft will place a great deal of emphasis on bridging together the PC, the Cloud and mobile phones via the Windows platform. For the giant, it's nothing short of a win-win situation. The Windows brand gets spread to mobile users worldwide, as they fatten up the ranks of Windows Live communities. Microsoft already accounts for in excess of 500 million Windows Live users worldwide.

“Partners are definitely a big part of our business. The only way we are able to effectively deliver our Windows Live experience to the vast majority of people around the world is in conjunction with our mobile operator and independent software vendor (ISV) partners. To give you and idea of how important our partners are, we have more than 100 mobile operators delivering Windows Live services in more than 45 countries. We also have over 100 different development partners working with us to build great Windows Live experiences on hundreds of mobile handsets around the world,” Wojciehowski added.
