14 DAY TRIAL // A teenager has been shot in a streetcar in Toronto and the incident is stirring up media buzz. Sammy Yatim was armed with a knife when a police officer shot him a staggering nine times.

Yatim brought the knife on the vehicle and threatened passengers, who were evacuated. A police officer then showed up to negotiate with the teen and make him put the weapon down.
The entire negotiation seems to have only lasted for a few seconds. The officer asks Yatim to surrender the weapon, then shoots him several times during only 13 seconds.
“I know that people are seeking answers as to what occurred, why it happened and if anything could have been done to prevent the tragic death of this young man,” Toronto police chief Bill Blair said in a statement.
According to UPI, an investigation is currently underway and, meanwhile, the police officer has been suspended with pay.
