Capcom does not plan to transition Street Fighter x Tekken to Steam, after Games for Windows Live will shut down.

The July shutdown of Microsoft’s Games for Windows Live platform has been confirmed during fall last year, with players hoping that the affected PC titles will migrate toward the more popular Steam distribution platform.

Games for Windows Live handles saved games, online play and other features for the games its attached to, and many players may find some functionalities missing once the service shuts down.

Regarding updating titles for compatibility outside of the GFWL platform, many game companies assured their fans that their favorite games will still be playable after the shutdown.

Capcom currently has two fighters available on PC, Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition and Street Fighter x Tekken, both of which will be affected by the discontinuation of Microsoft’s service.

While Street Fighter IV has had its moving to Steam confirmed, the Tekken crossover title may not benefit from a similar treatment.

According to Joystiq, Capcom stated that Street Fighter x Tekken is among the list of titles that they currently have no plans to update.

The anticipated update to Street Fighter IV, Ultra Street Fighter IV, is scheduled for release in June this year, and will launch with full Steam support from the get-go.
