Capcom might have already offered a range of information on its newly revealed Street Fighter V, but only now is the company ready to confirm that it is at the moment working with Epic Games in order to use the Unreal Engine 4 to create the core mechanics of the title and make sure that it looks great on both the PC and the PlayStation 4 home console from Sony.

The two companies are saying that the deal will allow the fighting game to move in new directions, and it seems that the collaboration will go on for a long time.

Bochan Kim, a producer at Capcom, is quoted in the official announcement as saying that “In order to fully deliver on that promise, we know we have to incorporate the latest and greatest technology available, which is why we partnered with Epic Games to power Street Fighter V using Unreal Engine 4.”

It seems that the Street Fighter V deal will involve the Epic Games team in Japan, but no details have been offered on whether the Unreal Engine 4 tech will change some fundamental elements of the series or not.

Taka Kawasaki, the territory manager of Epic Games, adds, “We know that the expectation level of fans is extremely high, so the support staff of both Epic Japan and Epic HQ have been providing dedicated support to help the team realize the very best performance from Unreal Engine 4 and deliver the highest quality experience to players.”

Street Fighter V will be offered to gamers in 2015 and is designed to keep the longtime fans engaged, while also introducing some innovation to the genre in order to show modern gamers the kinds of experiences it can offer.

Capcom has said that it will offer a clear breakdown of mechanics and the included characters in the coming months.

Unreal Engine 4 offers an entirely new development model

Epic Games is trying to make video game development easier than ever with its new tech, allowing teams to use shared libraries of content and delivering new features for the engine as new characteristics are added to hardware.

At the same time, the studio is also working on Fornite, a team-based shooter that will be offered late next year and is designed to show off the strength of its new technology.

At the moment, the Unreal Engine 4 is powering titles like Fable Legends, Crackdown, and EVE Valkyrie.
