One problem with the variety of display solutions on today's market is that compatibility issues can show up in various situations, one of which has been addressed by Kanex.

Users moderately versed in the happenings of the display industry will know of how many different interfaces there are worldwide.

Monitors usually have more than one input, the same way video cards and motherboards have multiple video outputs.

Still, this does not cover every possible situation, and there may come times when a certain machine cannot work with a display, or vice-versa.

There are also instances where one might simply wish for the possibility to stream to a certain display because it is better in one or more ways than the alternative.

As such, there have appeared such things as converters, otherwise known as adapters, which link an interface to another.

Kanex has announced one such converter, dubbed C23DL and meant to let PCs with high-end graphics, plus certain Mac systems, connect to the 27-inch Apple LED Cinema Display (ACD).

The price, according to the press release, is of $149 through the official product page, located at the other end of this link.

Video signal from DVI is actively converted into mini DisplayPort, though the power and the audio transfers are done via the USB connector.

Speaking of the universal serial bus functionality, the USB 2.0 port, in addition to offering energy and audio, supports all other functions that the technology is known for, like iSight camera use.

Prospective buyers most likely to find a use for the Kanex C24DL, besides owners of PCs, are those with legacy MacBook Pros from the 2006-early 2008 period, as well as those with Mac Minis made between 2005 and 2007. The maximum resolution that can be transmitted is the ACD's native 2560 x 1440 pixels.
