Valve has just confirmed that video game developers now have access to the Steam Controller API (application programming interface), which will allow them to easily implement support for the new gamepad in their own titles.

Valve launched last week the first 300 prototypes of its Steam Machines, Controllers, and the SteamOS operating system to lucky testers from across the US.

Now, in order to pave the way for the Steam Controller, the special API for the device has just been shared with game developers, according to Valve's announcement.

This means that game creators can now implement native support for the new gamepad in their titles, instead of relying on configurations that translate functions for the Xbox 360 controller to the new one.

Depending on the developers, you should see new updates for different games that add support for Valve's controller.
