Stratasys, the 3D printing giant, has announced a new printing material for its Objet Connex line of printers. The company calls it ABS2, probably from the thinking that adding a "2" at the end of any product name automatically makes it better.

The new material only works with its printers, and the company boasts that the new Digital ABS2 will provide a glossier, more professional look to the finished objects. The material shines in applications where the walls are 1.2 mm or thinner.

"Digital ABS2 offers excellent durability to functionally simulate products made from engineering-grade ABS. But it also provides enhanced dimensional stability so you can easily prototype and verify parts with higher rigidity, fine edges and thin wall geometries," Stratasys explains.

The company also revealed that both the new ABS2 and the original Digital ABS were available in two colors: green and a new ivory finish.
