We'll see Midway's third-person shooter surfacing at the end of this month on the PS3, but for now we'll just have to play the demo, launched today on the PSN. The Xbox 360 users have also had the chance to check out the adventures of Inspector Tequila, but there's still no word on the PC version of the title or the launch of a demo for that
platform.

Stranglehold features the continuation of the story from John Woo's hit movie, "Hard Boiled". It may be a 1992 movie, but Chow Yun Fat's acting was so great, that he's the perfect character for such a title. John Woo contributed to the game's development process, started in 2005 so we'll also see this media product surfacing as "John Woo Presents Stranglehold". You might also want to know that Chow Yun was also involved in Midway's creative processes, working closely with John Woo, for the first time since "Hard Boiled".

In case you haven't seen the classic movie, you should know that Tequila is the usual tough cop, battling it out with the Russian Mafia and the Triads, after one of his colleagues gets kidnapped. You'll use famous weapons like the Berreta 92 pistols or an M4 Carbine to create a rampage in Hong Kong's street markets or Chicago's museums. This is the first game developed by Midway that uses the Unreal Engine, so we'll see tons of destructible environments in Stranglehold, from walls to the many objects that get in the way of your bullets.

This won't just be another "run and gun" titles, mostly because Inspector Tequila has quite an arsenal of stylish moves, like the standard bullet time action sequences we saw in Max Payne. There's also a Precision Shot mode, which allows Tequila to shoot particular parts of his enemies' bodies, like the head, the limbs or the groin (ouch!). Have you started the PSN download yet? You'd better do that, as Stranglehold promises to be one of the best games of this Fall.
