The trailer for one of Nicole Kidman’s most recent films has been released to the public, and if you’re a fan, you’re bound to love it, because she really outshines all her co-stars. The pic is called “Strangerland” and is an Australian drama / thriller about a family dealing with loss and grief.

You can find the trailer embedded below.

“Strangerland” is the directorial debut of Kim Farrant, and is set in the Australian desert town of Nathgari. Kidman plays Catherine, the mother of two children, both of whom disappear, leaving her and husband Matthew (Joseph Fiennes) desperate to get them back.

Local cop David (Hugo Weaving, aka the bad guy from the “Matrix” films) promises to help them in their search, but with each passing hour, they understand that their mission can’t possibly end well. The mother refuses to accept that.

“Strangerland” premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, where it was received with positive reviews. If you look at the trailer, it’s not difficult to understand why: not only it promises a gripping story and touching performances but it’s also a story told in beautiful and very eerie imagery.

The film will be out in theaters and on VOD this summer.
