The trailer for the Dr. Dre unofficial biopic / his NWA story “Straight Outta Compton” was released the other day, and besides offering the first footage from the highly anticipated project, it also sheds some light into the motive for murder Suge Knight had when he ran over 2 men with his truck earlier this month.

The verbal dispute that turned violent and ended with Suge getting behind the wheel to run over the two men, one of whom was his friend, started from the fact that Dr. Dre hadn’t asked for his permission to use his likeness in the movie, TMZ reports.

Suge Knight is featured in the trailer

The trailer for “Straight Outta Compton” is a red band release, so you can see it on Universal Pictures’ YouTube channel. *Please be advised though that it contains graphic language that may offend.

At the 3.20-minute mark in the video, a large man dressed in red is seen unleashing hell and punching and kicking a guy sitting at the booth in the recording studio. He is accompanied by 2 goons who are just as furious as he is.

He also bears a very striking resemblance to Suge Knight, as the photo attached to this article will attest. Suge Knight and Dre didn’t exactly have the best working relationships, and it is a well-known fact that there was tension between the two.

What happened on that movie set?

According to the aforementioned publication, the hip hop mogul had driven to the set of the film on the day of the alleged murder to ask Dre if he had plans of including his likeness in the movie, and if so, to ask for details about it because he didn’t want to come out of it looking worse for wear.

He got Terry Carter to set up the meeting and to go with him in his truck over to the studio to talk it out. The meeting never happened because Suge got into a fight with actor Cle “Bone” Sloan, who has a part in the film, in the parking lot.

Reports say that Suge got very agitated and, partly because he was furious, partly because he was afraid for his safety since he was still recovering from being shot 6 times last year, he got in his car and backed up until he hit Sloan and Carter, who got left behind.

He then went forward and backed up once more, running over Carter’s body twice. He died from the injuries sustained.

Suge Knight has been charged with murder, attempted murder and hit and run, and will be getting the life sentence if he’s found guilty because of his previous, violent track record.

In court, Knight claimed he acted in self-defense, but he failed to explain why he ran from the scene of the crime and didn’t show up to surrender himself until many hours later.
