RAID arrays have proved their worth over time, as they allow a greater level of security for the users' data, even in the case of a system crash. However, said arrays are typically found in networked attached storage solutions (NAS) or external HDDs, which are anything but portable.
And this is exactly the reason why the people over at Norazza developed and launched a portable RAID array, which can provide relatively large storage capacities in a very portable external casing.

The device can be used for a wide variety of purposes, ranging from external storage and backup to the transport of data and video content, especially due to the fact that it provides a relatively high level of sensitive content security. Furthermore, the attained storage capacities are quite OK (at least for a portable system such as this one), as the RAID array features a 2-HDD configuration, supporting disk drives with capacities of up to 160 GB (for a grand total of 320 GB of storage space).

Norazza portable storage solutions supports the RAID 1 configuration (mirrored drives) and comes equipped with the fastest connectivity options currently available on the market, namely eSATA and USB 2.0, which means that it can attain data transfer rates of up to 480 Mbps (in the case of USB 2.0) and up to 3 Gbps (in the case of eSATA). Furthermore, as mentioned throughout this article, the device is truly portable, measuring just around 12.7 cm x 7.62 cm x 3.81 cm, at a weight of 861.82 grams (without the included HDDs, which will probably make it a little more expensive).

The Norazza portable RAID storage device retails starting at around 400 US dollars (just the device itself, not the HDDs), which is a relatively high price to pay for this thing, but taking into account its level of portability, it's relatively worth it.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
