Stonesoft Unveils Security Solution for iPhone and Android

Stonesoft, a well-known provider of innovative network security solutions, recently announced that it extended its StoneGate MobileID authentication software token for five new platforms: the Apple Mac OS, iPod, iPhone, iPad and Google Android.

Besides the StoneGate SSL VPN solution, the package also contains the StoneGate MobileID, which is a free client application that generates one-time passwords for secure authentication to corporate applications.

“By expanding the range of platforms supported by MobileID and through our single-sign on capabilities, we’re making it easy for our customers to secure their cloud computing environments,” said Juha Kivikoski, chief operating officer at Stonesoft.

As the hype about cloud computing is rising computing, so do the needs to develop, manage and provide secure access to critical business systems from mobile devices.

It seems that the above mentioned solution, StoneGate MobileID meets these criteria by offering single sign-on capabilities that allow organizations to maintain optimal security management and ensure strong authentication.

The free client application, StoneGate MobileID generates one-time passwords, known as OTP, which provide secure identification to the organization's mission-critical systems, such as CRM and corporate e-mail.

At the moment the security solution is available for the following platforms: Microsoft Windows, Linux, Apple Mac OS X, smart phones supporting Java such as Windows Mobile and Symbian with native versions for RIM Blackberry, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, Apple iPod, Apple iPhone, Apple iPad and Google Android.

The more advanced security solution StoneGate SSL VPN, enables organizations to provide controlled yet flexible remote access for their employees, partners and customers.

Further, the solution enables organizations to share information freely, but not without retaining full control over who accesses the information, when and from where.

StoneGate MobileID software is included free of charge for unlimited client installations with every StoneGate SSL VPN solution and it can be downloaded from the developer's website, AppStore or Android Market.
