Video game developer Stoic says that it is continuing work on its sequel for The Banner Saga despite all the problems that it is facing from King because it continues to use the word Saga, which the social games company has trademarked.

The studio explains on its official Facebook page that, “The three of us at Stoic want to give a heart-felt thank you to all the fans who have supported us by playing The Banner Saga. We’ve gotten so many messages about personal experiences with the game that we’ve been quite honestly blown away.”

The team acknowledges that its game might not appeal to all players, but they believe the trademark issue has united a large number of gamers in their to King’s legal moves.

They add, “Aside from the relief that comes with knowing that we’ll be able to keep working at Stoic for a long time to come, what has been really rewarding is the individuals who write to us saying things like ‘No game has ever been more worthy of the title ‘Saga’.”

The Banner Saga has already received a full patch to deal with problems that the community has been flagging and the team will continue to offer support.

Stoic says that the most important feedback it has received was linked to the story, which felt unfinished, and that’s why it wants to focus on the creation of a sequel that can address the problem and give gamers closure.

The Banner Saga is a tactics-driven experience that mixes traditional role-playing mechanics with a Viking and fantasy theme.

Players are able to make important choices that affect the story and the structure of the game changes based on the results of combat.

A sequel will refine the battle system, while also introducing a new narrative thread.
