Microsoft is keeping all pricing details secret for the time being

We already knew that Windows 8.1 would debut on October 18 and now that the operating system has reached the RTM development stage, all eyes are on other details, such as new features and pricing information.

Of course, Windows 8 users will be allowed to move to Windows 8.1 free of charge, but what about users who migrate from an older operating system?

Just as Mary Jo Foley of ZDNet writes, Microsoft remains tight-lipped on this kind of information, so expect even more blog posts going live from Redmond before general availability is reached.

Microsoft might keep the existing pricing and require users to first upgrade to Windows 8 and only then deploy 8.1 from the Store, but separate offers for those who wish to install the latest OS version are also very likely to be announced.
