After Yahoo! turned to radio ads, it's Google's turn to step down from the clouds and have a hands-on approach to advertising. And a real sticky one, at that. The Mountain View-based company has decided to morph the traditional 'sticky' internet concept, the quality that entices web users to stick around a particular site, into a more down-to-earth approach involving glue and paper. Or something like paper, the images aren't quite clear.

Yes, it's the old-school stickers that Google AdSense has set its mind upon, but believe it or not, they're not just giving them away for free. It's more like you get to pay to be able to advertise their product. It's not expensive, but the concept behind it is: all you need to do is send an envelope, self addressed and stamped with enough postage to return 1 oz of stickers, to the address below:

Google AdSense c/o Arlene Lee 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043 USA

No, you won't be able to ask for a box or more, should you want to hang your wall with AdSense tapestry, the Official Google AdSense blog reads that one publisher will receive just one, perhaps two maximum. Just remember that they have been designed for laptops and everything should be OK. Under no circumstances, they say, you are to turn a friend into a walking Google ad without their knowledge and consent.

Let's go back to the concept of paying 1 order to advertise their product, which I was captivated by. I've heard about folks buying shirts and other stuff with their favorite band, and, with my head bowed in shame, I too had an Eminem T-Shirt at one time. But that was because they and I were fans, and I really can't picture somebody loving AdSense that much that they'll pay to have a sticker with them wherever they go.
