Stewart Got Pattinson the Edward Part in ‘Twilight’

Few fans could imagine someone else playing the part of the vampire Edward Cullen in the “Twilight” films than British actor Robert Pattinson. As a matter of fact, Robert himself has repeatedly said that he’s come to exist for many solely as Edward, not that he minds it that much or anything. To think that all this could have been different hadn’t it been for co-star Kristen Stewart who landed him the part, as ShowbizSpy puts it.

Pattinson himself seems to have admitted that he had little chances of landing the Edward part without Kristen, who always brags about how he should be thankful to her for helping him move forward in his career. However, there were times when he didn’t quite believe his co-star when she said he owed it all to her, the actor reportedly said in a recent interview. Perhaps his talent also had a lot to do with the decision to cast him, his fans are saying on dedicated forums.

“She always says that she pretty much got me the part – though I don’t really believe her!” Robert reportedly said a short while ago. The only way in which it could be said that Stewart got him the part would be if one considers one of Pattinson’s earlier statements, in which he said he only accepted to play the brooding vampire when he heard that Kristen, an actress he had long admired, had also been cast for the same movie.

Also according to ShowbizSpy, Pattinson recently made another startling revelation as well by saying that he had no plans of being an actor for too long. “I don’t even know if I want to be an actor that long. I don’t even know how to be someone else… if I start doing lame work, I’m not going to stick around and do it!” the British star said, as cited by the aforementioned publication.

However, if true, this last comment would come to contradict all of Pattinson’s previous interviews, as he repeatedly spoke about his determination of becoming a reputed actor who would take up roles as varied as possible. He would move beyond the Edward image he had attached at the moment and start doing more “serious” work that would show the entire world he was here to say, Robert was saying a while back.
