Get ready for another fun adventure

The gaming industry is seemingly intensifying its connection with Hollywood each passing day. While we’ve received a lot of news reports this week about game-based movies, like the Gears of War and Prince of Persia ones, where the movie industry is embracing the ideas from video games with open arms, the relationship does seem to go both ways if we consider the partnership between big gaming company Electronic Arts and world-famous movie director Steven Spielberg.

The first result of this partnership was Boom Blox, a fun puzzle video game that combined physics simulators with tower building and became very popular, as it was released for the Nintendo Wii and mobile phones. Now, less than a year since its launch, it seems that we will see another game in this series, one that aims to bring families together.

Entitled Boom Blox Bash Party, it will be launched in spring this year exclusively for the Nintendo Wii. Promising over 400 levels in the retail release, and the ability to download more levels created by the development team and other users, similar to another hit puzzler, LittleBigPlanet, the game will surely attract a lot of people interested in titles that the whole family can play.

“Boom Blox Bash Party is a wild social gaming experience," Spielberg said. “We know families and friends really enjoyed playing the original Boom Blox together, so we designed more explosive multiplayer experiences with Boom Blox Bash Party.” Amir Rahimi, senior producer of the game, added, further stating that “In Boom Blox Bash Party we are taking the game elements to the extreme. In the original Boom Blox, we really focused on perfecting the game’s physics so now we can push the boundaries of physics, offering exciting new challenges and completely new ways to play.”

This announcement isn't actually such a big surprise, as casual games are selling quite well these days, largely due to the fact that a lot of people are buying the Wii and will also buy games for it. Let's not forget that thanks to casual games, made in collaboration with the famous Hasbro toy-making company, EA had a very good holiday season.

If this future game is anything like the first one, which was recently nominated at the Interactive Achievement Awards, for the Best Family Game of last year, then EA might have a pretty successful title on its hands.
