After the cold blooded and shockingly violent 'Munich' it seems that Spielberg needs a happy and joyful project. So he picked up the classical musical movie of the '60s.
The movie, which stared Julie Andrews, is still adored by many and considered one of the best musicals ever made.
Spielberg is still prospecting for the future film and has already talked to Sir Richard Eyre, the actual stage director of the British play.
Eyre declared: "Steven Spielberg wants to do a new Mary Poppins movie. We talked about this matter. It will certainly be difficult to outstand the original movie, but as children all around the world love the story i can bet the remake will be a hit."
The story of the gracious and super-natural nanny was written towards the end of the 19th century by P. L. Travers and is largely known and loved by millions of children.
So far there are no certain details to be made public, but an 100% English nanny movie has already been released: Nanny McPhee.
The box office adventures of this movie might give the Beard some precious clues for his next project.
