TV host and fashion guru Steven Cojocaru is recovering well in a Los Angeles hospital, after having surgery of kidney transplant.
Cojocaru, 40, was operated Tuesday at Cedars Sinai Medical Center, the donor of the kidney being his mother Amelia, 'Entertainment Tonight' reported on Wednesday.
"I'm immensely grateful for the precious gift my mother has given me," the personality who goes by the nickname 'Cojo' confessed.
"She is my hero today and every day. Thank you to all for your prayers and good wishes -- it gave me the strength to persevere and warmed my heart.", he added.
In November 2004, he announced that he was suffering from polycystic kidney disease and will require a kidney transplant. He underwent transplant surgery in January, after his friend Abby Finer donated one of her kidneys.
However, the kidney became infected with a virus, and in June 2005 he had another kidney surgery to have the transplant removed. On August 17, he announced that the virus was gone from his body and that he was ready to find a new transplant to replace the one removed.
