One of the most iconic figures in the tech industries says no to Samsung wearables

Steve Wozniak is one of the key figures that helped shape the computing industry with his design of the first Apple line of products.

But mister Wozniak hasn't become famous only by virtue of being one of the founders of the modern computational era, but also because he usually tends to speak his mind, without much censorship involved.

Wozniak hasn't shied away from declaring his love for platforms such as Android or Widows Phone, but if there’s one product he can’t understand, it is the Samsung original Galaxy Gear smartwatch.

In a recent interview conducted by Xconomy, Wozniak had a few things to say about Samsung’s first intelligent smart piece.

The tech icon claims he got bored and fed up with the device in a day and a half, so he proceeded to put the smartwatch up for resale on eBay. Wozniak claims the device did little next to nothing and wasn't comfortable to use. He even goes as far as to call the watch a worthless piece of technology.

Wozniak wasn't so brave as to continue on with experiment and purchase the second iteration of the Galaxy Gear, the Gear 2 or Gear 2 Neo. In all possibility, he might have enjoyed the latest Gear Live with Android Wear better.

In all fairness, the original Galaxy Gear has received a lot of criticism from reviewers and adopters alike. The smartwatch has been called bulky, physically unattractive and lacking a decent app ecosystem.

Since then, Samsung has been doing some damage control and has updated the watch to same Tizen OS the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo are running, virtually making them quite identical. In the interview Wozniak doesn't mention which OS variant was running on the product when he tried it out.

OK, so the Samsung smartwatch family doesn't do anything for Wozniak, but how about other products from the same category? The Pebble? Or maybe the Qualcomm Toq? Steve says no to both.

His favorite smartwatch companion is produced by Martian. The device has a tiny display relaying notifications and has a good speaker, but it doesn't offer touchscreen functionalities. So what? Wozniak is happy with it. Simplicity goes a long way in some cases.

Anyway, apart from smartwatches, Wozniak has also tried the Google Glass, which he finds to be a really cool product and really fun to use. However, the fate of this wearable is in the hands of beta users who must determine if the Glass will make a viable product or not, but it’s good to know the device has such a high-placed supporter.
