TechForEducators.com has announced that the inventor of the personal computer, Steve Wozniak, has joined the company's board of advisors. Wozniak co-founded Apple Inc. with Steve Jobs in 1975 and created Apple's first line of products, the Apple I and II. Wozniak, also known as “The Woz” among Apple community members, was awarded the National Medal of Technology in 1985, for his achievements.

“Woz inspired a generation of technologists – including myself,” Matt Spergel, president of TechForEducators.com, explained. “The Apple II was an engineering tour de force and an amazing learning tool. We are deeply honored to have Steve contributing his infectious optimism and creativity to our company.”

“TechForEducators.com represents the best in trying to do good things for our students and teachers,” Steve Wozniak expressed. “I'm looking forward to the great things they have planned for education.”

A while back, Softpedia also reported that Steve Wozniak had joined Axiotron's board of directors. The company's official announcement revealed that it saw the Apple co-founder as “a trailblazer at the dawn of the personal computing revolution.”

Axiotron also admires Steve “for the ingenuity of his designs for the home-built Apple I machine, and its enormously popular successor, Apple II.” It suggested that it was Steve who gave shape and form to the notion of personal computing, while the MacBook modder merely tried to give Macs more pop.

Back to the TechForEducators.com announcement, Steve's move to join the company's board of advisors is not at all surprising. While admitting he has “a better place at smaller companies looking at new ideas,” Woz has devoted the recent years of his life to various business and philanthropic ventures, including education, with a particular focus on educational technology. Wozniak also founded the Tech Museum of Innovation and Children's Discovery Museum of San Jose.
