Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Computer has been named 'Radio Person of the Year'.

The recognition from RadioDailyNews.com, 'The Daily Voice and Journal of Broadcasting', is awarded on a annual basis to those individuals of the radio industry who exhibit remarkable leadership and have a profound positive effect on the industry.

Larry Shannon, publisher of RadioDailyNews.com, said in a statement, "RDN solicited feedback from its Web site's visitors and subscribers, and determined from a variety of sources that Steve Jobs, the iPod and Apple's many media products made significant impacts on the broadcasting industry in 2005 and during the past few years. We anticipate that his influence on the broadcasting industry will continue throughout the coming year."

Apple's iPod has changed the face of radio the way no one ever thought might be possible and the overnight explosion of the podcast is very tightly linked to the portable media player.

Shannon said, "The iPod has surely been a competitor for radio, but it also has provided radio stations, talent and programmers with a unique and valuable distribution channel -- the Podcast, a common addition to radio station Web sites all over the world."

Podcasting, a mix between pirate radio of old and the new paradigm for pull media is constantly on the grow and will continue to do so in the following year.
