Over the years, several writers have tried to do a complete biography of Mr. Steven P. Jobs, the co-founder of Apple Computer, now CEO of Apple Inc., although some aspects were clearly not covered right. Unauthorized accounts of the life of Mr. Jobs prompted the CEO to react angrily.

As The NY Times points out, it is clear as daylight that these failed attempts to provide a clear picture of Steve Jobs’ life all have something in common: lack of cooperation from Mr. Jobs himself. However, a writer is finally getting a chance to take walks with Mr. Jobs and visit the places where he grew up (and not only) in order to achieve the most comprehensive, authorized biography of the iconic CEO. Mr. Isaacson is currently the chief executive and president of the Aspen Institute, a nonprofit education and policy studies organization based in Washington.

Citing two people briefed on the project, the NY Times confirms that, “Apple’s chief executive is set to collaborate on an authorized biography, to be written by Walter Isaacson, the former managing editor of Time magazine.” Isaacson is the author of two best-selling biographies, the paper points out. Those are “Einstein: His Life and Universe” and “Benjamin Franklin: An American Life.” In addition to these works, he also wrote “American Sketches: Great Leaders, Creative Thinkers, and Heroes of a Hurricane.”

The book is still in its early planning stages, according to these people (meaning that Isaacson hasn’t written down anything yet), so it’s going to be a while before it’s out. It is set to cover Mr. Jobs’ entire life, “from his youth in the area now known as Silicon Valley through his years at Apple,” these people tell the NY Times. Jobs has even invited Mr. Isaacson to tour his childhood home, according to one person with knowledge of the discussion.
