Fortune is
reporting that Steve Jobs is to deliver a keynote address come June 9th, the day the
World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2008 commences. Naturally, everyone is thinking
3G iPhone, but that's certainly not all Steve has up his sleeve. Hey, that rhymes!
The above-mentioned publication notes Gene Munster's report to clients on Monday, in which he stated
the following: "The launch of the new model is imminent." A renowned analyst's word might still not be enough to convince skeptics of the new iPhone's arrival. They should check out
this piece, about an independent developer who posted an
iPhone 2.0 screenshot on its blog, depicting several 3G-related strings in the fifth beta of the upcoming iPhone firmware.
So, while iPhone firmware 2.0 Beta 5 confirms 3G support, with analysts going on and on about
what "other" features the new model may sport aside 3G networking, what else is there to look forward to WWDC '08? Lots more, actually, otherwise Apple
wouldn't have set up this
countdown timer to the day that Apple’s World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) begins.
Sure enough, the new iPhone will be taking up much of the space and allocated time for the conference (check out WWDC '08 iPhone Sessions), but then what are the developers struggling to win first place for, say... The Best Mac OS X Leopard Application, going to do?
Last month, Apple disclosed the
Categories and Prizes for the Apple Design Awards, which included Best Mac OS X Leopard Graphics and Media Application, Best New Mac OS X Leopard Game (personally, I can't wait to see an original Mac game debuting at WWDC), Best iPhone Web Application and more. So, as you can see, there's much more to be looking forward to than just the 3G iPhone, as far as WWDC '08 goes.
