You hardly ever hear fresh news about Steve Jobs these days. But this is one story we’d rather not have stumbled upon. A 35-year-old from Alameda, CA, has robbed the Palo Alto home of the late Steve Jobs, stealing $60,000 / 48,000 EUR worth of goods.

Kariem McFarlin has been arrested and charged with residential burglary and selling stolen property, according to The San Jose Mercury News.

It is unclear whether the items taken from the Jobs residence belonged to Jobs or another family member, as Santa Clara County prosecutor Tom Flattery was unable to provide specifics.

The break-in reportedly happened in July, when the house had been surrounded by a temporary construction barrier. The news is just out now.

McFarlin has been sent to prison with bail set at $500,000 / 404,000 EUR. His final sentence will be determined at an Aug. 20 court hearing. Reports say McFarlin had not been aware of the significance of the home he was robbing.
