Steve Jobs is 'definitely considering' to make an appearance at today’s iPad-focused gathering, according to the source that was also first to confirm Apple’s event before the invitations had been sent out.

According to a reputable source of technology news, people familiar with Apple's plans have informed that Apple’s CEO, who is currently on medical leave of absence, is “definitely considering” to take the stage at today’s event, even if for just a few moments, to introduce the yet-unconfirmed iPad 2.

Earlier this week, Italian site setteB.IT lit the Apple fan base on fire with a report saying that CEO Steve Jobs was expected to attend today’s event.

Needless to point out, there is a lot of doubt surrounding the possibility of Jobs attending the keynote, mostly due to his health, which is believed to have gotten even worse.

If he does make an appearance, though, it may still allow the media to scrutinize the company. What if Jobs loses his balance as he walks on stage with an iPad 2 in his hand? What if he is even thinner now than was before?

Again, if Jobs does take the stage at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, chances are the attending crowd will be more focused on his every move, rather than the iPad 2.

As it stands, the most likely candidate to introduce the iPad 2 for Apple is Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook, who is believed to be the heir of Jobs, once the CEO steps down from his position with the company.

Cook is most likely to be joined by Apple’s marketing boss Phil Schiller, and Scot Forstall, the company’s highly regarded SVP of iPhone Software.

Softpedia will be covering Apple’s March 2 event later today, so be sure to stick around and find out whether or not Steve Jobs is still good to go. After all, that’s on everybody’s mind right now.
