Steve Ballmer’s reorganization plan that’s supposed to help the Redmond-based empire he manages to focus more on devices and services is expected to be announced on Thursday, a new report claims.

Even though no official confirmation has been provided, it appears that Microsoft’s big honcho wants to create what he calls “functional coherence” and thus allow all divisions to collaborate easier with each other, according to AllThingsD.

Julie Larson-Green, the one in charge of the Windows division, is very likely to become responsible for all hardware projects within Microsoft, including Surface, Xbox, and music or TV services.

Windows Phone chief Terry Myerson could be appointed head of Windows engineering and platforms, while Windows CFO and CMO Tami Reller might switch the focus to marketing.

As said, no specifics have been provided, so take all these with a pinch of salt until Steve Ballmer publicly announces the changes.
