A new development in the Steubenville rape case has been revealed, as police have made two more arrests in connection to the case.

This time, two teenage girls have been detained over making threats to the victim by using social media outlets.

According to Steubenville Facts, the news about the arrests was announced by Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine last night, on March 18.

As we mentioned yesterday, two high-school football players from Steubenville have been found delinquent in a rape case that involved a schoolmate that was unconscious.

16-year-old Ma'Lik Richmond and 17-year-old Trent Mays have been convicted to a year in a juvenile detention facility, while Mays has been awarded an extra year for distributing photos of the semi-naked minor.

Not long after sentencing was concluded, the victim received threats on both her Twitter and her Facebook accounts.

She called in the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, who turned over the investigation to the Attorney General's Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI). Those who issued the threats were found in a matter of hours and detained.

“Let me be clear. Threatening a teenage rape victim will not be tolerated. If anyone makes a threat verbally or via the internet, we will take it seriously, we will find you, and we will arrest you,” Attorney General DeWine warns.

A 15-year-old girl had spoken about beating up the victim on Facebook, and she has been charged with menacing and threatening bodily harm, a misdemeanor count.

A 16-year-old has also been brought in at the county’s Juvenile court, for boasting that she would kill the victim. Fred Abdalla Jr, Chief Probation Officer confirms the account in an interview with Daily Mail.

“Two female juveniles were placed in detention on alleged charges of menacing/aggravated menacing for making threats through social media against the victim in last week’s rape case,” he explains.
