Comedian Stephen Colbert’s sister, Elizabeth Colbert-Busch, is getting ready to go into the spotlight - and in politics -, seeking a Democrat nomination for the First Congressional District, it has emerged.

The mother of 3 has never been in the public eye before, St. Andrews Patch, the same media outlet to break the story, notes.

“She will file her candidacy papers on Tuesday according to Amanda Loveday, Executive Director of the South Carolina Democratic Party,” the Patch writes.

“Colbert-Busch is the Director of Sales and Marketing for Clemson University’s Wind Turbine Drivetrain Testing Facility. Previously, she was the Director of Business Development for Clemson University’s Restoration Institute,” the report further says.

Though she’s never been in the limelight before, being Stephen Colbert’s sister is already getting her plenty of media attention even though she’s yet to file the candidacy papers.

In the comments section of the Patch, for instance, many say being a comedian’s sister might work against her in the long run.
