Last week, former video vixen Stephanie Seymour was photographed holidaying with her family at the beach. One set of pictures in particular showed her and son Peter Brant II kissing in a way that got the media thinking only bad thoughts.

Brant, a high school senior and aspiring model, is now telling Gawker that the pictures were taken out of context: they’re just of a mother that likes to show her affection in public and nothing more.

Seymour was trending topic online last week not only for her incredible beach body (she could be a model still, it was said) but also for one picture that shows her and her son kissing, while holding each other closely.

Seeing in that more than just affection is sick, Peter says. Both he and his mother knew the paparazzi were there, but they never imagined this would go this far as to suggest there was some sick relationship between them.

“I would just like to say that these pictures have been taken completely out of context, my mother and I are very close as she is with all her children. She often hugs and kisses me and my siblings in an manner that is intimate, any mother in the world does the same,” Peter says for Gawker.

Moreover, he’s gay and yes, that has affected his relationship to his mother. They’re perhaps even closer than other mothers and sons.

“We have nothing to hide and with that in mind I would like to say that I am openly gay. At my age my mother and I are almost like friends and I feel open to talk to her about anything (and yes our relationship may be different because of my orientation),” he says.

Asked about the paparazzi and how they tend to intrude into one’s personal space just to get “the money shot,” Peter says he’s learned to ignore them and just pretends like they’re not there, like he did that day at the beach.

However, some things are beyond upsetting, and speculation of the kind that made the rounds last week is one of those things.

“We learn to accept that these photos may appear in the media but we do not appreciate speculation on our personal lives and any other hateful uninhibited opinions,” he says.

Gawker also has one of the pictures that caused all the ruckus, go here to see it.
